Choosing a propeller

How do I find my current propeller size?

The size is usually indicated on outside of the propeller hub. It is usually written like this (examples):

  • 11 1/4 X 13
  • 11.25 X 13

The first number is the diameter (11.25) and the second number is the pitch (13).

Some brands use a different way to indicate the size or model. For more information, see our guide about choosing the right propeller.

When do I need a 4-blade propeller?

The difference of a 4-blade propeller compared to a 3-blade propeller is that you have more blade surface area. This ensures a higher thrust. This can be particularly beneficial for heavy boats or slow-sailing boats, but also if your boat has difficulty accelerating or if you often pull waterskiers or wakeboarders.

Advantages of 3-blade:

  • Lower price
  • Higher top speed achievable

Advantages 4-blade:

  • Faster to plane (getting the hull out of water when accelerating)
  • Better acceleration
  • More suitable for heavy loads
  • Beneficial for towing water skiers and wakeboarders
  • Better steering characteristics at low speed
  • More grip in rough water

Tip: if you switch from a 3-blade propeller to a 4-blade propeller, choose a propeller which is 1 pitch size smaller to maintain roughly the same speed and RPM performance.

What is the advantage of a stainless steel propeller?

Stainless steel propellers are stronger than aluminum propellers. This makes these propellers more resistant to scratches caused by sand. Due to the stronger metal, the propeller blades are also often thinner than those of the aluminum models, which increases efficiency. Stainless steel propellers are however more expensive than aluminum ones.

How to Choose the Right Propeller

About us

Finding the right propeller, made simple

Choosing a new propeller often seems more complicated than it really is. When your old propeller is damaged, you suddenly face hundreds of models, sizes and variations. Many boaters feel as if they have to guess which propeller fits their engine — and that uncertainty is frustrating.

That’s exactly why we’ve made selecting the right propeller as simple as possible. With our unique selection tool — built on a complete catalogue of almost all inboard and outboard engines — you’ll find, step by step, the exact propeller that fits your engine.

This is what we call our Fit Guarantee: the propeller you choose through our selector is guaranteed to fit your engine. Does it not fit after all? We will provide a free return label and exchange it for the correct one for free.

For those who want to dive deeper, we offer additional tools: the Propeller Guide, which clearly explains the effect of pitch, diameter, and blade configuration; and the Propeller Calculator, which helps you calculate the ideal pitch based on your boat type and desired performance.

With more than 10 years of experience advising customers, refining our assortment and continually improving our systems, we know exactly how to help you choose the right propeller with confidence.

How we keep our prices low

A new propeller does not have to be a major investment. In the marine industry, many still work with importers, distributors, and dealers. Each link in this chain adds its own margin, which you as a customer ultimately pay for.

Because we buy directly from the manufacturer, we keep the chain as short as possible. No middlemen are involved, and this results in lower prices for you.

Additionally, we ensure that our range perfectly matches the most commonly used engines. We focus on technically relevant propellers and purchase strategically so that we can manage our inventory efficiently. This prevents unnecessary costs and enables us to offer competitive prices.

Our goal is simple: to provide high-quality propellers at a fair price, without compromising on reliability or performance.

Our modern European warehouse

Fast delivery begins with an efficient warehouse. That’s why we ship all orders from our modern fulfilment centre in the Netherlands, close to major European logistics routes. This central location allows us to process and dispatch international orders quickly and reliably.

With more than 3,000 items in stock, we can ship most products immediately. Every item shown as “in stock” on our website is physically available in our warehouse, ready to be dispatched without delay.

Our warehouse team processes orders multiple times per day. Orders placed before 11 p.m. (CET) are usually shipped the same day. Before packing, every item is checked carefully to ensure your propeller is sent in perfect condition.

We also have extensive experience handling international deliveries, including customs declarations for the UK and other non-EU destinations. Local VAT is calculated at checkout when applicable, and tax-exempt shopping is supported for regions where this is appropriate.

Nothing will stand in the way of your next trip, and you’ll be back on the water in no time.
